May 23, 1957, Winnipeg Free Press.

One of the best-known photography exhibitions of the 20th century, The Family of Man, organised by the famous photographer Edward Steichen (1879–1973), then a curator at New York’s Museum of Modern Art, opens on May 23.

Including 503 photographs by artists from 68 nations, the exhibition was opened by the Winnipeg Blue Bomber football great Tom Casey (1924–2002), the first African-American to be inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame, who retired from the sport in 1957 to work as a medical doctor.
