December 3, 1951, . University of Manitoba Archives & Special Collections, Winnipeg Tribune Fonds.

The Gallery displays paintings and sculptures by faculty from the University of Manitoba’s School of Art, including Director William McCloy (1913–2000). In December, McCloy delivers a public Gallery lecture titled “Pros and Cons of Modern Art.” McCloy would become a vocal advocate for modernism in Winnipeg, toward which there remained much public resistance in the 1950s.
