David Brown Milne, Interior with Paintings, 1914. Collection of the Winnipeg Art Gallery; Acquired with the assistance of the Women’s Committee and The Winnipeg Foundation. G-62-7

The Gallery acquires (in part through funds secured by the Women’s Committee) six oil paintings and five watercolours by the significant Canadian Post-Impressionist artist David Milne (1882–1953), from Toronto-based art dealer Douglas Duncan (1902–1968). While not the first works of Milne to be acquired, or the last, the 1962 acquisitions are some of the strongest and help secure the Gallery’s reputation as an important resource of Milne’s unique work.
