Catalogue, , 1962. Winnipeg Art Gallery.

An exhibition of 46 drawings and sculptures by the Ukrainian artist Alexander Archipenko (1887–1964), organized by the Gallery, goes on display.

The Gallery, with the support of Winnipeg’s Ukrainian community, succeeds in bringing the artist to the city for the opening, which sees close to 1,000 people in attendance. Archipenko delivers a lecture entitled “Creativity” to an audience of 600 at the Civic Auditorium’s Concert Hall . In March, the Gallery purchases the important early work Boxers, which the artist sold at a reduced price in appreciation for the success of the exhibition.
