The Gallery plans to launch the Great Jewellery Exhibition at the Manitoba Hydro Building on Portage Avenue. The exhibition is scheduled to include 15 pieces on loan from Windsor Castle, as well as examples of historical jewellery owned by British, French, and Russian royalty. However, the exhibition, which many believed would be even more popular than the Van Gogh exhibition of 1960, is cancelled because the display facility was judged “inadequate” by the lenders.
