Kiugak Ashoona: Stories and Imaginings from Cape Dorset opens.

Ashoona, who began carving in the late 1940s, is notable for having had the longest artistic career of any artist then currently living in Cape Dorset, an established hotbed of Inuit art on south Baffin Island. This solo exhibition represents the first retrospective study of his artwork, and includes 30 sculptures dating from 1952 to 2008 and 19 drawings that have never before been seen.
