The WAG-organized exhibition A Distant Harmony opens on October 8.

A Distant Harmony compares Canadian painters from the 19th and 20th centuries including Joseph Légaré (1795–1855), Paul Kane (1810–1871), George Reid (1860–1947), Lawren Harris (1885–1970), and Carl Schaefer (1903–1995) with American painters of the same periods including Thomas Cole (1801–1848), George Catlin (1796–1872), Thomas Eakins (1844–1916), Rockwell Kent (1882–1971), and Charles Burchfield (1893–1967). The exhibition tours to the Art Gallery of Hamilton in 1983.
