The Pipoon Festival, presented by the Indian and Metis Friendship Centre of Winnipeg, opens in the Gallery’s main foyer (today Eckhardt Hall) on March 28, and is attended by almost 3,000 people. 

Events at the one-day free festival include “a talent show, demonstrations of the Red River Jig and round dancing country style, a bannock and tea party, fashion show and a display by Manitoba native artists.”
