The estate of the late Arnold O. Brigden (1886–1972) donates a significant collection of close to 600 Canadian, Inuit, and European paintings, sculptures, prints, and drawings.

Originally from London, England, Brigden moved to Winnipeg in 1914 to open the Winnipeg office of Brigdens, which employed several artists, among them Charles Comfort (1900–1994), Fritz Brandtner (1896–1969), and Walter J. Phillips (1884–1963). Brigden had also been an original Board member of the Winnipeg Art Gallery Association in 1933.
