I came to Canada in 1985 at the age of 4 and a half and my world changed forever. Even though times were tough for many years, one thing that has remained with me ever since those early years was the enriching experience of attending Saturday morning art classes at the WAG from kindergarten through to high school. I was selected in my class every year for the scholarship to attend these immensely valuable classes. What a joy that was! It was a bright and shining highlight in my childhood, which was at times a difficult one. Through the Eyes of a Child, year after year, made me feel special and appreciated, and seeing my RWB-inspired banner for Young Artists on the Avenue rippling in the wind on Portage and Carlton(?) was such a boost to my self esteem. An amazing exposure to an array of mediums and ideas and perspectives. The experience is one which I have and will treasure always, and will hopefully be able to give to my kids now that I'm a mother. Thank you.
